Polycystic ovary syndrome with Carol Lourie

December 10, 2018 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm CST

A native Philadelphian, Carol Lourie received her undergraduate degree from Temple University and went on to attend the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. She then moved to California to attend the San Francisco College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, where she obtained her Acupuncture license in 1987. After working at the well-known Berkeley Holistic Health Center as a Homeopath and Clinical Nutritionist, she founded the Natural Health Care & Healing Center in Berkeley, CA. Carol often refers to hormonal imbalance, PCOS as well as fertility difficulties, as a wheel with many spokes; they are interrelated and respond to similar approach to treatment. The contributing factors, or spokes of the wheel, are metabolic syndrome and blood sugar dysregulation, inflammatory process, HPA or Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal Axis imbalance, and your body’s response to environmental toxins. Each of the spokes contributes to PCOS, impacting a woman’s health and her fertility. The foundation for Carol’s approach towards treatment of hormonal health, PCOS and fertility, lies in a root-cause perspective towards disease and imbalance. She incorporates Acupuncture, Chinese and Functional Medicine, as well as Homeopathy. With nutrition as the foundation, she applies a comprehensive approach to understand all the contributing factors of hormonal imbalance. She then works in partnership to help women recover their health to restore their life.

Here’s what we’ll talk about:

1. What comes first, the Metabolic Syndrome or PCOS? 2.How does nutrition impact PCOS?
3. How does our environment impact the development of PCOS?
4. How does stress impact PCOS?
5. Using “the clues” to understand where to begin in a treatment plan
